The latest email marketing news, according to Dave McDowell, Yahoo Mail senior product manager is that “people spend more than 30 Billion minutes a month of Yahoo Mail”.
Whilst it looks like someone has been asleep at the wheel, amazingly they are also planning to make their system more compatible with social media.
This will mean that their users will soon be able to post updates to Facebook and Twitter without ever leaving Yahoo mail.
So the good news is that Yahoo are telling us it will be twice as fast as Googles Gmail and Microsofts Hotmail.
But if they take another five years before they look at it again, that would be a problem!
Being able to view photos and videos from Flickr, Picasa and YouTube is helpful.
According to industry analyst Greg Sterling, of Sterling Market Intelligence, he said “The challenge for them is to make having a Yahoo Mail address cool.”
he continued by telling us: “I think if Yahoo Mail performs well, they will win people over”
Lets hope so, this could very well be Yahoos last chance as it seems they are late to the races again.
